RAILWAY MISHAPS.
CHRISTCHURCH COLLISION.
DRIVER REDUCED IN RANK.

The driver of the railway locomotive which collided with a crowded tramway trailer at Colombo Street crossing on the morning of June 7 has been reduced from the position of second-grade driver to first-grade fireman. This punishment has been imposed by the Railway Board in Wellington. It entails a reduction in pay of about 2s a day for an indefinite period. The fireman on the locomotive was exonerated.

The driver and fireman of the locomotive which was derailed at Timaru recently have been exonerated from blame.
