A VISIT TO CANADA.

At a time when many eyes turn to Canada as its diamond jubilee is celebrated as an occasion of Imperial importance, the ' great Dominion's branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association has performed a graceful act. Its invitation to the British association and to the other branches to send delegations on a visit to Canada next year takes rank among the courtesies that do much to make the Empire realise its unity. In the last few years these tours of Parliamentarians have achieved some notable results. They have enabled their participants to speak in their own assemblies with greater accuracy and sympathy when questions affecting other portions of the British commonwealth of peoples have - come under review. An advantageous feature of these tours has been their non-party character, the arrangements having always in view the delegations' comprising of representatives of every considerable party in politics. This has helped to lift Imperial politics above the level of partisan wrangling, and to make them, as they should be, matters of broadly national concern. Associated with this gain has been the assurance that every interest in the country visited would be a subject of investigation. There should be no hesitation on the part of the association's New Zealand branch in accepting the invitation. In Canada's rapid and diversified development is a field of study offering many phases of suggestiveness to this smaller Dominion, and both countries share an interest in the Pacific making understanding between them highly desirable. For all the delegations the projected visit should prove even more educative in Imperial affairs than any of the kindred tours to other outlying portions of the Empire have been.
