WAIMARINQ FARMERS' UNION

Tho Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, advises that authority has been issued for a further £2OO in connection with tho work on the Mangatiti West Road, regarding which representations wore recently made to him by tho settlers concerned.
Tho annual meeting of the Waimarino branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held yesterday, Mr. J. R. Hunter presiding. The president's report showed that good work had been accomplished during the yoar, and that several matters of importance had been dealt with. The branch had made steady progress, and the finances wero satisfactory. Mr. Walter Harris was elected a honorary lifo member of tho union. Tho question of establishing sub-branches came before the meeting and after discussion it was resolved that as many members had to travel long distances to attend meetings in town, that sub-branches be established in various centres of the outlying parts of the district. ,The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. J. R. Hunter; committee, Messrs. D. D. McLean, R. Croton, A. B. Harris, E. L. Sommerville, H. H. Harris, J. Turnbull, G. Hunt. J. Morton; secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. H. Scarrow.
A successful performance of "It Pays to Advertise" was given last evening by tho Raetihi Amateur Dramatic Society in the Theatre Roy*l. There was a largo audience, and the artists wero given a splendid reception.
