The New Zealand cricketers to-day commenced a match at Chiswick against en eleven representing the Civil Service. Collins, a brother of the Australian cricketer, captained the home side. The latter won the toss and made 256 in their first" innings. The New Zealand bowlers put up a good performance considering that they had not Ihe slightest help from the dead wicket. Merritt, Blunt and Henderson were frequently unlucky in beating the batsmen, but missing the wicket. The New Zealanders played Fox, a New Zealander now resident in England. Dempster and Blunt confidently played out time. The match against a London club fixed lor August 29 has been cancelled. Details of to-day's scores are CIVIL SERVICE.—First Innings.
