LICENSING OF HOARDINGS. SCALE OF WATER CHARGES. [I!Y TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. J MORRINSVILLE. Saturday At a meeting of the Morrinsville Borough Council last evening the finance committee reported that no provision for licensing hoardings was made in the bylaws and the committee did not recommend the passing of a special by-law, considering that there was no necessity to do so. The majority of members thought otherwise and a motion was carried that the matter be referred back to the committee for further consideration. The opinion that it was desirable to revise the scale of charges for water supplied to consumers outside the borough boundary and to extraordinary consumers inside the borough was expressed in the report of a special committee set up for the purpose. The report was held over until next meeting. The lack of space for parking cars was discussed and notice of motion was given that any surplus money from the general fund should be expended on metalling the full width of the side streets off Thames Street.
Authority to pay interest at the rate of 7 per cent, on moneys borrowed from the bank, on the security of hypothecation of the debentures issued in respect of the sewerage connection loan of £IOOO was granted by the Minister of Finance. The Minister of Internal Affairs advised that he was unable to recommend at the present time that the limit of £SO for unauthorised expenditure be raised to £IOO. The bank balances were reported as follows:—District fund (debit), £521 3s 6d; roading loan (credit), £l6B 5s 9d; (on deposit) £3000; baths loan (credit), £39 18s; sewerage loan (credit), £625 14s 7d.
