PLAYING FIELDS.

Sir, —The City Council appears .1© be t trying to do its duty in regard .to * playing fields although it has a lot of ' leeway to make up. Wfari I would like to know is what the suburban local bodies are doing in this matter. Their idea appears to be that tho city alone has responsibility. Take .Mount Albeit. The reserve at Morningside -would make a wonderful playing area, but the council simply, sits tight and allows its residents to rage against tho city's slow progress. There is hardly a suburban local body that is catering for its own 3'outh. ft all authorities would do their even up to the point the city is now carrying the work, there would be r=.o difficulty. IrrrtE Suburbia.
