COROMANDEL HOSPITAL.
ELECTRIC LIGHT SUPPLY. ONE PROPOSAL ABANDONED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CORO MAND EL. Wed n esd ay. The Coromandel Hospital Board met this week, Mr. E. C. Denize, presiding in the absence of the chairman. Mr. S. James. The chief business was a further consideration of the proposed electrical lighting of the hospital. The hydro-electric scheme, mooted during the absence of the clerk, Mr. Simmonds, on sick leave, was found, on close investigation by him, to be impracticable. The town water supply is purely a domestic one, the Water Board administering it having no legal or statutory rights enabling it to sanction a continuous supply for lighting or power purposes, such as was proposed by the Hospitul Board. This will probably mean a reconsideration of the earlier proposal to utilise a stream near the hospital for power purposes, or, failing that, the installation of a petrol or other fuel engine. The subject. is to be dealt with at a full meeting of the. board at an early" date. Accounts amounting to £215 7s 9d were passed for payment. The question of painting the main hospital building is also to receive early attention.
