STOCKS AND SHARES.
AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE BUSINESS SLACK YESTERDAY. Business was unusually slack on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, mining being the only section to show activity. In Government securities there was general inquiry at current offers, hut few holders responded. In debentures New Zealand Breweries were, done at 23s 6d, the buyers' offer, at the second call, compared with 23s lOd at the last sale two weeks ago. In banks buyers offered £8 7s, tlie current price, for English, Scottish and Australians, sellers reducing their quotations by Is to £8 8s at the last call. New South Wales were available at £45 7s 6d, the price paid earlier in the week, buyers £45. New Zealands were steady at 59s 3d and 58s 6i!, and Unions at £ls 16s and £ls 14s. In insurance New Zealands changed hands at 39s 9d, the current rate, at tho first and third calls. In coal Renowns, which were done at 6s earlier in the week, were sought at 5s 9d, late sellers 6s 9d. In miscellaneous British Tobaccos had sale at 54s 9d, compared 55s at tho end of last week. The market' for Colonial Nilgais was steady at £sl 15s and £sl. hi mining Kawaraus again changed hands at Is 6d, at which price more were available, late buyers Is 3d. Lucky Shots, contributing issue, were slightly easier, business being done at 2s, compared with 2s 2d earlier in tho week. Waihis had sale at 19s Id, compared with 19s 3d at tho end of last week, and Waihi Grand Junctions were done at< Is sd.
