CLASS DISTINCTIONS.

CANBERRA SOCIAL SERVICE.

OPPOSITION TO " CLIQUES." The proposal to welcome Government servants to Canberra at social functions, which is engaging the attention of the Social Service Association, has directed attention to the question of class distinction, in which evil many citizens claim Canberra is now enmeshed. Despite the repeated statements of the Chief Commissioner, Sir John Butters, that the authorities are strenuously opposed to clearly-defined social sets, residents state that such cliques are endeavouring to dominate the new Australian Federal capital.
