POLICE COURT NEWS.
CHARGES OF VAGRANCY. UNDESIRABLE COMPANIONS. Charges of being idle and disorderly in that she had insufficient lawful means of support, and that she habitually consorted with persons of * ill-repute, were denied in the Police Court yesterday by Catherine Nesbitt, alias Billy McDonald, aged 29 (Mr. Dickson). The police evidence was that accused had been seen in hotels and about the streets, that she never did any work and was frequently about the town with persons of ill-repute. Mr. Dickson said the last conviction of accused was in August, 1923, and since then she had lived a decent, respectable life. She was supported by her husband. The magistrate, Mr. McKean, dismissed the first charge, but said there was sufficient evidence to justify a conviction on the second charge. Accused was capable of looking after herself, but if she persisted in consorting with undesirables she would have to be imprisoned. She would be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. A charge of vagrancy was also preferred against Margaret Speakman, aged 26 (Mr. Singer) Counsel suggested that accused should tbe remanded. She was in receipt of money from Australia, and the next instalment would arrive on Friday. She then wished to leave for Australia. Accused was remanded until Saturday.

Langdale and Company, Ltd., by falsely representing that he was employed by the New Zealand First Aid Supply Company. He had been employed by the New Zealand First Aid Supply Company, but his services terminated in March. Tie had since obtained goods by falsely representing that he was still in the company's employ. The magistrate granted the remand.
