The engineer, Mr. A. A. Woodward, reported that the motor grader recently purchased at a cost of £977 was doing excellent work on the Hamilton-Paeroa Road. Owing to the distance covered in a day, the question of quarters for the driver was a difficult one, and the only solution would seem to be to provide him with a travelling hut. A suggestion that the Waikato Council support a resolution passed by the Horsham Downs branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union and ask the Government to amend the Motor Vehicles Act to exclude from heavy traffic licence fees all motor-trucks under 2£ tons gross weight loaded used by farmers for their own use was made by Mr. T. H. Henderson. Mr. S. Lye predicted that legislation would shortly be enacted revising the question of the collection of heavy licence fees. The council decided to dofer the matter until the provisions of any pending legislation became known.
