EDUCATION IN TAURANGA.

REQUEST FOR A HIGH SCHOOL

["BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

iAURANGA. Tuesday

A deputation waited on Mr. A. Burns, chairman of the Auckland Education Board, to-day, urging the establishment of a high school at Tauranga. It was stated a promise had been given by Sir James Parr that a school would be provided if about 70 pupils could be guaranteed. The number on the register of the secondarv department of the Tauranga A school was 78, and it was known that some 28 children from the district were receiving their secondarv education elsewhere.

Mr. Burns said ho would place the request before his board, and ask the board to use its best endeavours to support the application of the Tauranga people for a fully-equipped high school.
