CARGO STEAMER DELAYED.
WATERSIDE WORKERS IDLE. MEN REFUSE ENGAGEMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE. Friday Waterside workers at Gisborne have refused to work the cargo steamer Port Auckland. A call was made yesterday afternoon, but it was riot responded to, and two other calls were made this morning with similar results. The men's representatives have decided to attend a meeting of the Disputes Committee. m Officially the agents of the Port Auckland have received no notification of the terms on which the watersiders have refused engagement It is understood that the men are aggrieved at not having been paid two hours' extra time on Wednesday evening, when the vessel proceeded to sea owing to stress of weather. The waterside workers' secretary, when interviewed, declined to discuss the posi--tion.
