WEEK-END WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours ■ from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :—Unsettled weather is indicated, with heavy rain, particularly .in western and southern districts, but improving everywhere shortly, fine weather conditions following generally, and lasting for "several days. Very cold nights, and frosts inland. Westerly winds, strong and squally, backing to south, and increasing to gale." Seas rough. Antarctic influences at present dominate Dominion weather conditions, but a general improvement is eSpected shortly, fine weather prevailing, with very cold nights and frosts inland. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Prudent indications are for strong and squally west to south-west winds, and cold, changeable and showery weather generally, with heavy showers probable in the west coast districts and snow in the high country of the South Island.
