CO-ORDINATION OF WORK. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. [BY TELEGRAPH,—OWN CORRESPONDENT. J WELLINGTON. Tuesday As the result of a consultation which took place last week between the principal officers of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the department of Agriculture and Lincoln College, an understanding has been arrived at by which the Canterbury institution will co-operate without undue duplication of work with the Government Agricultural College. Hi" Cabinet yesterday ' afternoon considered a report submitted by Dr. E. Magsden, secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and Dr. G. J. Reakes, DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, upon a meeting they bad last Friday with the Lincoln College board of Governors. Sir. D. Jones, M. P., was also present on behalf of the Canterbury members of ParliamentThe Minister of Agriculture, Hon. O. J. Hawken, stated to-day that, the object of the meeting was to formulate a working arrangement between Lincoln College and the New Zealand Agricultural College, at Palraerston North, with a view to avoiding overlapping and defining the work which each institution shall undertake. " There appears to be every prospect,** said Sir. Hawken, *" as a result of the suggestions made from both sides, that a good working arrangement will be arrived at between the two institutions. The suggestions made have yet to be finalised, but there appears to be no good reason why this should not happen and if so it would enable the work of agricultural education to proceed at both colleges without any clashing o? interests
