RUGBY IN VICTORIA.
GOOD PROGRESS RECORDED. As a result of the visit of the All Black and Maori teams to Melbourne last year, Rughv football seems to have received a fairly good start in the Victorian capital. A \ ictorian Rugby Uuion has been formed and the first annual report shows the same has made considerable progress. The report states it had been decided to take over the liabilities of the defunct League, totalling £2B, and also assets in cash of £3 IBs 9d. It was pleasing to report that thin liability had been wiped out. The statement of accounts showed the union to be in a very satisfactory position, the net balance at the bank on March 31 being £244 14s sd. The Management Committee and council had gone into the matter of grounds very thoroughly, but regretted their efforts, up to the present, had been futile. The secretary was in communication with the Parks Committee of the Lands Department and it was proposed to secure three grounds if possible. The council extended its warmest thanks to the New Zealand Rugby Union for its very generous treatment with reference to the All Blacks' and Maori matches, and to the managers and p'ayers of the teams for the assistance and advice given. Thanks were also accorded to the New South Wales Rugby Union for its assistance, and it was hoped that, in .the near future, New South Wales would make arrangements to plav a Victorian team, and that the New South Wales team would call at Melbourne in July when ou its way to England.;
