CLAIM FOR HIGHER WAGES. COASTAL BOATS CONCERNED. (Received April 13, 9.25 p m.) A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, April 13. A serious position is again threatened in connection with inter-State shipping. Th-i Federal Management Committee of the Seamen's Union has framed a new log for wages, which will be served on the shipowners. The union demands a. large increase in wages, and requires structural alterations to be made in many vessels which trade on the Australian coast. Secrecy has been observed in regard to the proceedings, but it is stated that unless the owners agree to an immediate conference io discuss the new claims the seanjen will instructed fo refuse to sail after a date to be fixed unless they have been engaged on the terms of the ne.w Jog,
