A VETERAN BANKER.
RECORD OF FIFJY YEARS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. 1 WELLINGTON. Thursday. Mr. Thomas Eustace Corkill, assistantgeneral manager of the Bank of New Zealand, will shortly retire on pension, probably about the end of May. He has spent more than 50 years in banking, having joined in 1875 the staff of the Isle of Man Bank, of whose Ramsey branch his father was agent. After four years in that bank and five years in the Bank ot Liverpool he came to New Zealand, and in 1885 joined the head office staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Auckland. From 1890 to 1896 c he was in the bank's Sydney office, but the remainder of the 42 years which he has spent in the bank's service have been at the head office in Wellington and various brandies in Now Zealand. Since 1906 lie has been on the head office staff, having been successively head office accountant, inspector and chief inspector until his appointment to his present position. Mr. Corkill intends to go to Britain for a visit shortly. -
