SYSTEM READY FOR WORK. LONDON-MELBOURNE ROUTE. (British Official Wireless.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, April 5. The beam wireless service between England and Australia will be opened for public traffic on Friday morning. ■ The new service will place London in direct communication with Melbourne, At the outset it will b8 available only for telegrams to and from Australia, at rates varying from Is 8d per word for an ordinary telegram, to (id a word for deferred daily telegrams, and 5d a word for week-end letter telegrams. Ordinary press messages are to be carried at 4d a word, and deferred press messages at 3d a word.
