NEW PETROL PUMP.
CORRECT MEASURE SHOWN. PLACED IN ROYAL GARAGES. {Jteceived Feb. 19. 5.3 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, Feb. 19. A new petrol pump which was designed by Mr. Frank Hammond, an Australian, has been installed at the Royal garages at Windsor Castle, at Sandring&ara, .King George's rotmtry home in Norfolk, and at Marlbcxough House, the Prince of Wales' London residence. It is learned that Dame Nellie Melba, the famous prima donna, interested herself in Xlr. Hammond'.'? invention. She introduced him to Professor A. M. Low, who pushed his interests and secured the patent'rights on behalf of Sir. Hammond The great virtue of the pump is said to be its unfailing accuracy. It gives correct measure to within eight drops. Tests made of ordinary pumps revealed inaccuracies which varied from. • a quart short to a quart over the correct measure. An investigation by the Board of Trade showed . that Mr. Hammond's pump re- • tamed' Its accuracy without inspection or I adjustment.
