'• As the outcome of a request for the apv pointment of *a second constable for the J district, the Minister bad advised that 1- an officer would be stationed near Papa--3 toetoe, thereby relieving the Papakura J constable of .a portion of the district, e The financial statement showed res' ceipts totalling £BB 12s 6d, and expendi- } ore £7B 4s 2d, leaving a credit balance t of £lO 8s Bd. ' ' e> The president said matters which ap- - peered ahead for the attention of "the . chamber were the erection of a new courti. house at Papakura, the duplication of the railway as far as Papakura, the speedt ing-up of the train service, and the advertising of the attractions of Papakura as a residential suburb, The chamber would 5 do well to extend its membership to in--5 elude ■as many farmers of the 'district as s possible. In this respect, encourages ment had been received in the form of s inquiry from farmers in the Karaka district. 5 Mr. E. D. McLennan. M.P., said the • completion of the concrete highway would 3 bring Papakura within 40 nrnntes' travel 7 of the city. He hoped the railway would 5 soon be duplicated to Papakura, and also, > with the advent of an abundant supply • of electricity, that ttye whole of the 1 suhnrban services would be electrified. The election of officers for the ensuing i year resulted: —President, Mr. Garlick; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Willis and W i A. Paviit: executive, MessrS. H. E. v McEntee, W. K. Frances and P. J. r Parker; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. Boagey; auditor, Mr. 0. E. Beechey.
