GORED BY A BULL.
LITTLE GIRL GRAVELY HURT. PIERCED BY BEAST'S HORNS. CLOTHES TORN TO TATTERS. WENT Tp CARESS ANIMAL. - [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCEURCH. Friday. Unah Mackie, aged 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Mackie was gored by a bull in a field at Cashmere, this morning. She is suffering from shocking injuries and now lies a patient in the Lewisham Hospital. Her collar bone is broken, her body is injured, and her left arm is torn and lacerated . But for the fact that the bull was tethered to a chain the girl would have been killed. Fortunately she had sufficient strength left to crawl away from the animal. Mr. Mackie's little daughter is very fond of animals. The bull was in a field near her home at Cashmere and it is thought that she went into the field to pat the bull. She has a habit of caressing any animal she sees. Evidently the bull turned on her, knocked her down, and started piercing her with his horns. When she was picked up her clothes were in tatters and she was bleeding profusely. Mr. White happened to bo in the field nearby. He saw what had happened and ran over to her immediately. The little girl was very weak and suffering from shock. Mr. White carried her to her mother.
An operation was performed this afternoon. The little girl, who has a sound constitution should recover, although she is suffering terribly from shock.
