OVERSEAS TRADE IN 1926
HEAVY DECLINE OF EXPORTS. NEARLY £10,000,000 LOWER. ADVERSE BALANCE OF £.4,513,988. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] •WELLINGTON, Friday. ; Returns have been furnished by the Customs Department of the overseas trade of New Zealand for last year. They show that the value of exports declined by nearly £10,000,000 in comparison with 1925, while imports were reduced by £2,567,000. There was consequently a movement from a favourable to an unfavourable visible balance of trade to the extent of £7,320,000. The details for the last two years are as follow: — 1926. 19-25. Decrease. Exports JE45,'275,575 £55,262,272 £9,956,G97 Imports 49,789.563 52-.456.407 2.666,844 Excess of Imports £4,513,958 Exports —• £2,805,865 £7,319.853 The returns for December show exports valued at £3,631,698, compared with £4.613,488 in the last- month of 1925. Imports during the month amounted to £4,288,096, as against £4,641,751. .
