PURDY DEFEATS FRENCHMAN. [by telegraph.—PßESS ASSOCIATION-3 \vELL)'NGTON, Friday. In a splendid contest to-night, Charles Purdy, of New Zealaad, defeated Hay. rno.'id Jan sen, a French boxer, on points, after an exciting 15 rounds' contest. Janseii was aggressive in the first and last rounds, evidently seeking « knockoat, Purdy was too clever iri footwork and he gained a comfortable lead.
