FEWER HOURS OF WORK
MOVEMENT IN AUSTRALIA. ENGINEERS BECOME RESTIVE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Dec. 21. The Australian Society of Engineers has been advised by the Arbitration Court that judgment in their application for a 44-hours week throughout the Commonwealth will not be delivered until February. Members of the society are very dissatisfied and are becoming restive. Various branches have carried resolutions instructing their executives to take the necessary act-ion to secure their demands. A mass meeting of all metropolitan branches has been convened for Janu -ry 11, when definite proposals will be submitted to members.
