HOLIDAY REHEARSALS.
Many mothers are preparing for the children's holiday at the :>ea during the coming month. Trunks and frocks arc not this only necessary preparation. If small people are to get every available scrap of good out of the sun and sea a little practice beforehand will acclimatise them to what are, after all, almost startlingly new conditions. Let them on fine days run about the garden in bathing, drawers for a short time in the morning at first, gradually lengthening the period of exposure as the skin becomes hardened to the sun. With a very delicate skin rub in a little cold cream before the sun bath. Even a fortnight of gradual hardening will spare them painful sun-blisters and the' wrap-ping-up which follows. _ Let baths be cooled down gradually and be taken in the biggest bath available. .Encourage them to try floating, supporting the l»ck of the head with a gentle, steady hand. This game played •at home can be resumed in shallow iiea water, and the additional buoyancy of the water will give the extra ounce of confidence so helpful in first swimming lessons. Holiday "rehearsals" are great fun and centainly make for increased enjoynwrifc when the great time comes.
