SHELTERS IN DOMAIN.

QUESTION OF UPKEEP. HOSPITAL BOARD'S POSITION. Referring to recent complaints concerning the state of the T.B. shelters in the Domain, the chairman of the Hospital Board, Mr. W. Wallace, at the meeting; of tho board last night said the board had no responsibility for the upkeep of the shelters, the hospital staff confining its attention to the care of the patients.' Maintenance of the buildings was a matter for the Government, in accordance with the arrangement entered into with the Defence Department when the shelters were erected. However, the board was not so inhumane as to allow any question of responsibility to act to the detriment; of the patients, and when urgent repairs were necessary the board had them carried out. There was no doubt, nevertheless, that many of the shelters needed attention, and he had drawn the attention of the DirectorGeneral of Health, Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, to them. Mr. Wallace also said he had interviewed every one of the patients in the shelters, and they were unanimous in -expressing their disapproval of the suggestion that they should be removed to the Waitaker© Ranges. ,
