When the chlorine tank burst lie was standing by. Miraculously he was unhurt and lie plunged into the gas-filled building and extricated man after man. When all, except the 23 who were killed, were safe, Melius collapsed iu the manager's arms. Ho was hurried to hospital but he succumbed from asphyxiation.
