GALLANT RESCUES.
HEROISM OF AN ENGINEER. EXPLOSION IN A FACTORY. A. and N.Z. PABIS. Dec. 15 A story of remarkable heroism is told concerning the explosion in a chemical factory at St. Auban, when 25 workers were killed. The dead hero is Meline, an engineer. When the chlorine tank burst lie was standing by. Miraculously he was unhurt and lie plunged into the gas-filled building and extricated man after man. When all, except the 23 who were killed, were safe, Melius collapsed iu the manager's arms. Ho was hurried to hospital but he succumbed from asphyxiation.
