BIG GAME IN AFRICA.

NEW ZEALANDERS' TROPHIES. Five elephants, six lions, five rhinoceroses, five hippopotami and eleven buffalo were shot by General H. Hart and Mr. Vivian E. Donald, of Masterton, during a hunting expedition in Central Africa from which they recently returned. They proceeded to Kabunda, in the extreme south of the Belgian Congo, and then followed the Luapula River into Rhodesia, traversing the , Bangweolo swamps to the Chambeai and Mansia Rivers. Penetrating as far as Lake Young, the hunters crossed to the Mwambwa' and thence reached the Luangwa Valley, whence they returned to Lake Young by way of the Msalango River. .

Mr. Donald states that the Luangwa Valley has been closed for eleven years on account of sleeping sickness, this accounting for the large bag of game secured by the party.
