WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN. [Bt TELF.GBAFH. —OWN CORBESTOSDEKT*] HAMILTON. Monday. The Mangawara River Board met at Hamilton last week, tho chairman, Mr. It, R. W. Beid, presiding. Regarding Kneebone's Bridge, Mr. W. R. Johnson and tin clerk reported that arrangements had been made for the dismantling of this- collapsed bridge and for the restoration of foot access by the erection of a swing bridge, OT.air action was approved. Mr' T. R- Blackman reported that the contractor for the Lower Maaeawara improwmenfc work was past the : Taon« Junction and had entered upon this work The- clerk wjjs instructed to write afrain to the Public Works Department, representing the need for further subsidy money m order to increase the extent of the work while the dredge was still there. The clerk notified the board that in ■ accordance with statutory : the triearaial election would.bo held:, on January 11, 1927, and that as returning officer he would make the necessary arrangements. In order to dispose of the amount of business in hand, it was decided to hold another meeting of the board nest Thursday. , It was ■ decided •to undertake clearance work at tho mouth of the Tonhei Stream at a cost of approximately £OO. Mr. W. R. Johnson submitted several tenders for the metalling of the approaches to Orini canal public bridge, and that of Mr. Jacob King was accepted for gravelling at £43 15s. „ , , Mr. T. R. Blackman was instructed to prepare plans and specification for the expenditure of the balance of the £IOCu that had been ear-marked soma time ago for the Upper Mangawara.
