COLOURED SHOES.

Women who have so far maintained that a simply-cut shoe is the only smart design will be bound to • alter their opinions. The latest shoe 6 vary in pattern and in detail, and allied with these revolutionary changesj the one-time favourite summer colours of beige- and grey and white have given place to all the gayest hues imaginable. The Oxford foundation continues to be the most successful shape, . for it goes well with the sports outfits of tho moment. But it is by no means the very conventional cut the name implies. The latest examples are made in bright leathers; and are further treated to original pipings oi; contrasting cbl6ured kid or dyed snakeskin.

Odd fabrics are used with extraordinary ■ success, and of these fine Panama straw is the most in demand. It is made up into highly practical models, with firm leather-covered heels. Straw-made shoes for afternoon wear are treated to a superimposed design of straw embroidered flowers across the vamp. Cretonne-covered heels and cretonne bindings are another smart fad. Allother favourite design is trimmed with narrow strips of kid, which follow the line of the instep and spread into a broad fcandal fastening front. Laced shoes are also a fad of the moment. The most approved of are those which fasten very much as a cross-over bodice fastens, with loose lacing and'tremendous eyelet holes.
