A GARDEN FETE.
St. Mary's Girl Guides and St. Mary's Brownies held a garden fete at the residence of Mrs. H. Philcox, Takutai Street, Parnefl, on Saturday afternoon, which proved most successful and enjoyable. Round the lawn, under the trees, various stalls were erected and a thriving trade was done in a'll manner of useful and dainty articles. The Felix Jazz Band contributed an enjoyable musical programme and a Punch and Judy show was well patronised. An exhibition of country dances was given by the Brownies. The committee of Brownies, who energetically worked for the fete was as follows:—hymd Alison, Marian Chatterton, Helen Co ites, Barbara Kinder, Ruth Mackenzie, Gwen Maden, Alison Milsom, Sonia Parkes, Camilla Peters, Betty Richards, Eileen White. Those in charge of stalls were:— Produce, Mrs. A, M. Peters, Mrs. Howard, and Mrs. Richards; cakes, Mrs. H. Philcox and Mrs. Hoyes; sweets, Mrs. C. Maeindoe and Mrs. Fcnw,ck; fancy work, Miss Ward and St. Mlary's Girl Guides; afternoon tea, Mrs, Milsom and Miss Partridge; lucky dip, Misses White; ice-crp.am, Mrs. E.' W. Alison. The proceeds of the fete taken during the afternoon amounted to £6O.
