THE PRICE OF BUTTER.
INCREASE OF ONE; PENNY
TO JAKE EFFECT TO-DAY,
An advance of one penny a pound in the price of butter on the local market takes place to-day. The Auckland prices will accordingly be Is for superfine brands, Is 4d for first grades, and Is 3d for second qualities. A similar advance in Wellington from to-day brings the price of superfine brands to Is 6d on that market. London parity at 176s per cwt. is equal to Is, 4.91 d a lb. f.0.b., so that, after allowing for distribution costs, the Wellington price is approximately equal to London value, while the Auckland price is about per lb. lower.
