DR. R.J. TILLYARD.
PARASITES FOR DOMINION. CONSIGNMENT SECURED. A. "and N.Z. LONDON. Dec. 5. Dr. R. J. Tillyard, head of the biological department of the Cawthron Institute, New Zealand, sailed for the Dominion by the Gorinthic. He took with him 250 parasites of earwigs. These are intended to destroy earwigs in New Zealand. These parasites are scarce this year, a fact which necessitated Dr. Tillyard searching throughout Europe. They cost one shilling each. He also took several kinds of insects which he hopes will destroy blackberry and brambles. Before they are liberated they will be tested to- ascertain the effect they have on other plants.
