EXCHANGE OF OFFICERS. : ' ..i VICTORIA AND NEW ZEALAND. [EST TELEGEAPH.—-OWN CORMJSPONMSNT. ] V ,' WELLINGTON. Thursday. During his visit to Australia a i'ew months ago the Director of Forestry, 3Hr, L. M. Ellis, discussed with the Victorian Forestry Commission the advisability of an interchange of forestry officers between Victoria and New Zeaiand, it being considered that great mutual benefit would be derived from "such visits. The respective Governments have approved this ex change of officers and definite arrangements giving effect/ to the proposal have bpen made.
The two Victorian officers are Messrs. Home and Rust, and they are 4ue in New Zealand within the next few days. Mr. R. B. Steele, B.Sc., of the New Zealand State Forest Service, will, leave for Australia to-morrow and another forestry officer will leave in about a week, the hotter appointment, not; yet having bpen I'ully decided upon.
It is confidently expected that the New Zealand officers will obtain a special knowledge of the . silvicultural nnent of eucalyptus forests of Victoria, which will be valuable for cultivation in this country.
