CONCRETE ROADS AND OTHERS.

Sir, —One sometimes wonders who pays for concreting main highways. My farmer brother told me during Show Week that he did. I replied that the great majority of unfortunate ratepayers who live on other than concrete highways have to pay. Here is a case in point. I live in Rockfield Road, One Tree Hill. We have no footpaths, ard have to wade through mud and water from gate to road. The One Tree HiJl Road Board calmly tells us to wait till next year and then ask the Onehunga Borough Council, who will be taking us over. Meantime the One Tree Hill Road Board collects heavy rates from us arid spends it on its concrete highways. Grin and Bear It.
