LONDON LITERARY HOAX
CHARGE AGAINST PEARSON
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Heed. 12.25 a.m.) LONDON. Nov. 25. There has occurred a sequel to the literary hoax involving the publication of the alleged memoirs of a diplomat in the form of a book entitled " The Whispering Gallerv."
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Hesketh Fearson on a charge of obtaining a cheque by means of false pretences.
A cablegram published yesterday stated that an apology bad been made by an author named Pearson to the diplomat, Sir Rennell RoJd, for the appearance of his name in the controversy concerning ''The, Whispering Gallery." Pearson affirmed that Sir Rennell was not the author of the book, and that he did not participate in its preparation or publication. Pearson, who is a # member of the Savage Club, is an actor of some ability. He is also a writer of stories for popular oeriodii'als.
