EAMONN DE VALERA.
SPEECH TO NEW PARTY.
OPPOSITION TO FORCE
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.35 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 24
The former Republican leader, Eamonn de Valera, in a speech at Dublin at the first convention of his new Republican Party, opposed the idea of achieving by force a united republican Ireland. If, however, the road of peaceful progress and natural evolution was barred, then the road of revolution would beckon and would be taken. He had never said, and he was not saying now, that force W3s not a legitimate weapon for a nation which was striving for freedom, but a nation within itself ought to be able to settle its policy without civil conflict.
