MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS.
RESPONSIBILITY OF DEBTORS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] I£ERCER. Friday, A reminder that debts must be paid before Christmas festivities are indulged in was given by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., to a debtor in the Magistrate's Court at Mercer. The debtor was a single man without dependants and was earning £4 10s a week He bad offered to reduce bis debt by ten shillings a week, but the magis trate considered this amount inadequate " What do you want all the money for?" asked the magistrate. " Oh, for Christmas, and so on," answered the debtor. " You'll have a very quiet Christmas this year," replied tho magistrate, who made an order for the payment of a substantial sum during December.
