A DOMINION FEDERATION. DEFINITION OF OBJECTS. Representatives of the dairy breeds associations of New Zealand met at tho Royal Show on' Thursday morning to consider a report of a committee set up to draft a constitution for a New Zealand Dairy Breeds Federation. Mr. A. W. Green (Hamilton), of the Milking Shorthorn Association, presided, and there were also present Messrs. C. G. Dermer ('Cheltenham) and A. E. Missen (Hamilton), of the Jersey Association; Messrs. W. Harvey (Waverley) and A. E. Anderson (Piriaka), of the Red Poll Association; Mr. H, J. Marchant {Cardiff), of the Friesian Association; Mr. F. Mills (Waverley), of the Ayrshire Association; Mr. J. P. Kalaugher (Wellington), actingsecretary; Mr. C. M. Hume, of the New Zealand Herd Testing Association; Mr. W. M. Singleton, director of the dairy division; Mr. G. Finn, and Professor Riddet. It was resolved to establish a New Zealand Dairy Breeds Federation, comprising delegates from all the incorporated dairy breed associations in the Dominion. The objects of the federation were defined as follow:—The extension of pedigree cattle breeding; the use of purebred bulls and the elimination of "scrub" bulls; the exhibiting and marketing of purebred stock; the export of pedigree cattle to other countries; the improvement of methods of judging cattle and the study of methods of increasing the productive capacity of dairy cattle; co-opera-tion with investigators in the breeding, selection, feeding and management of dairy cattle; the elimination of disease; the initiation of legislation and methods to keep all dairy breed associations informed regarding legislation and proposed legislation dealing with dairy breed interests. It was resolved that dairy breed associations should be entitled to representation on the executive as follows: Two" representatives for the first 250 members and an additional representative for each 500 members above that number. The subscription was fixed at £3 3s for each representative. It was decided to hold "the first business meeting of the federation in Feilding on the evening of the first show day, in February, 1927.
