ARMED RAIDERS IN CORK.

A sensational series of raids is reported to have been carried out in Cork city and county. Armed men overpowered the Civic Guards and ransacked police stations. They removed bundles of documents. In tho course of disturbances Sergeant Fitzsimmons was shot dead. This officer was in charge of St. Luke's barracks. He was standing in a doorway when he was shot. Simultaneously there were raids on other barracks. The raiders overpowered the guards and searched the premises and took away more documents. They then escaped. Great military activity in Cork followed the raids.
