Heavy rain caused the side of a mountain at Cwm, near Ebbwvale, , Wales, to slide toward the river. The bed of the stream has now been raised above the street level and water is rushing into the streets and undermining ' the houses. All the inhabitants have left the town. The Hood caused by the landslide necessitated the blowing up of a huge concrete river wall in order to temporarily divert the watet from the main road. The situation is precarious.
