MANUKAU COUNTY.
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Manukau County Council met yesterday, Mr. F. M. Waters presiding. The Valuation Department advised that the revaluation of the county could not be undertaken immediately, but the work would be put in hand with a view to the revaluations taking effect from April 1. 1928. F A communication from the district engineer for railways stated that the Hailway Department was agreeable to dedicating as a public road the access road to the Tironui railway station, a new station between Takanini and Fapakura. The council accepted the offer, and the loan money authorised for this road will be expended. An application for an extension of the Macgere East crossing water supply along Royton Avenue was granted. A roading schema proposed by ratepayers of Weymouth for the district was considered. The council agreed to give the scheme favourable consideration, providing it was made more comprehensive. The proposal of the ratepayers, involves tho metalling and general improvement of roads. The County Council received £4ll 2s 7d from tho Auckland City Councij as its proportion of heavy traffic licence fees, collected from July 1, 1926, to September 30, 1926. Twenty-five applications for building permits, involving work costing £10,271, were granted during the past month. More than half the amount was for dwellings in the Mangers Hiding.
