MATERNITY HOME SCHEME.
~».n, DISPUTE REGARDING SITE, DEPUTATIONS TO MINISTER, [by teeeghaph.—own cohuespondent. ] DARGAVILLE, Monday. For some years a burning question in the district has been the site for the proposed maternity home. The Kaipara Hospital decided to erect the institution at the Northern Wairoa Hospital, at Te Kopuru. The site chosen was about nine miles from Dargaville and the northern end of the district, and residents in those areas protested to the Minister of Health against the decision of the board. On Saturday a deputation from Dargaville and the northern district waited on the Minister, the Hon. J. A. Young, and asked that the home be erected in or near Dargaville, and offered a site. Opposition delegations from the Te Kopuru and Otamatea districts put in the claims of the southern areas. The Minister said he would take time to consider his decision. He also said it was largely a matter for the Hospital Board to and although he could see that Dargaville was. the most central site he would not like to disturb the ruling of the Hospital Board.
