MURIWAI BEACH.

IMPROVEMENTS FOR SUMMER. ATTRACTING CAMP * PARTIES. Extensive improvements are being made to the access to Mnriwai Beach in order to attract motoring and camping parties during the summer. The road leading to the beach was rendered impassable by a washout during the winter, and on account of the limited funds of the Motutara Domain Board the damage was regarded with some. gravity. Owing to the increasing popularity of this resort the Public Works Department has now contributed two-thirds of the £l7O required for repairing the storm damage., and the Waitemata County Council has undertaken the work and provided the balance. The road through thfe bush to the beach is being metalled out of a loan of £SOO, and the thoroughfare should be open to motor vehicles at the end of this month.

In order to make provision for residents and campers, the Waitemata County Council has obtained authority for a loan of £650 to develop the water supply. The pipe line to the beach was carried away when the road was washed out, and it is proposed to replace and extend it and furnish a much larger supply system. A resident has donated a section of land containing two springs, and the cottages and camp : sites will be supplied with water by gravity.
