CHURCH PROPERTY RATES.
DECISION AT WHANGAREI, COUNCIL'S CLAIM UPHELD. [BY TEUEG3BJIPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Wi±ANGAEEI, Tuesday. Some time ago the Wnangarei Presbyterian Church authorities contemplated disposing of part of the church property fronting Bank Street as business sites. The Whangarei Borough Council lodged a claim for rates, and the case was heard in the Magistrate's Court. Mr. F. H. Levien, 5.M.., to day delivered his considered judgment in favour of the council for £sl 0s 7d, with costs. The magistrate held that the portion of the property in question was not used exclusively for church purposes, and was not necessary for snob purposes.
