ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
SPEEDING OF MOTORISTS. STOP-WATCHES FOR POLICE. The Onehunga Borough Council met last evening, tne Mayor, Mr. J. E. Cowell, presiding. Mr. W. C. C'oldicutt drew attention to the speeding of motorists through the main thoroughfares, and proposed that stop-watches should be procured for the police. Mr. "H. A. Stoupe said that on Sundays some motor-cyclists went at 40 to 50 miles' an hour. Mr. W. N. Mcintosh: They ought to be put in gaol. The motiou was carried, although the Mayor pointed out that the police would prosecute only when the speeding was actually dangerous to the public. The Minister of Railways drew attention to the of the advisory boards, and invited the co-operation of the council in utilising the railways and extending their usefulness. The matter was referred to the Onehunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce. The council adopted the request of the Onehunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce to ask the One Tree Hill Road Board to continue the numbering of Campbell Road from the borough boundary, instead of commencing a duplicate set of numbers for that part of the thoroughfare under its control. The request that the nunifeering of the houses in Onehunga should be completed on the same system as in other parts of the city and suburbs was declined. The Railway Department notified that an advertisement hoarding would be erected on the main frontage of the railway station.
