MATERIAL FOR WHARF.
SHINGLE BELOW STANDARD. A complaint of the non-delivery of ihingle of tho right quality for the work &f reconstructing the Western Wharf has received at the meeting of the Harbour Board yesterday when the engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, reported that on October 18' seven separate scow loads of Ihingle were offered by the contractors but nil had to be rejected as the quality pas not up to standard. He suggested It was desirable to recommission the jtone-crushing plant at Rangitoto for supplying crushed metal for future works, tnd that in the meantime the difficulty In connection with supplies under this tontract be met by purchasing from outtide sources. On the recommendation of fee Purchasing &nd Stores Committee the pgineer's report was adopted.
