GOVERNOR OF BENGAL.

POST FOR HON. F. S. JACKSON Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Kecd. 5.5 D.m.) LONDON, Oct. 14. It is officially announced that the Hon. F. S. Jackson, politician, soldier and cricketer will be the new Governor of Bengal. He will assume office in March. The Hon. F. S. Jackson, who has been chairman of the Unionist Party since 1923, has been a member of the House of Commons since 1915. For two years he was Financial Secretary to the War Office. He served in the South African War and in later years was associated with military affairs in England. In sport he has always been prominent, particularly in cricketing circles. He was a member of the Yorkshire eleven and has frequently played for Gentlemen against Players and All England t«ims.
