REFORM OF THE CALENDAR.

ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS. EASTER A FIXED FEAST. GENEVA DISCUSSION SHORTLY. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.m.) A.- and N.Z. LONDON. Aug. 30. A world-wide reform of the calendar by establishing a fixed date for Easter is recommended by a sub-committee of the League of Nations. The Assembly will shortly debate the matter.

In commenting on the matter the Daily Chronicle advocates the adoption of the suggestion that Easter Day should always be the second Sunday in April. It says the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches are agreeable to the change, but the attitude of the Greek Church is uncertain.

The report of the uub-commktee suggests further alternatives. The first is to divide the year into quarters, each to contain two months of 30 days and one of 31 days, the last day of the yeat; to bo a "dies non."

The second alternative is to have 13 months of 28 dr\vs and the same dies non." Under this plan every date would always fall on the same day of the week. Leap Year would be unchanged.
